Dr Schlemper is the most reliable and thorough doctor I’ve had in any of the three countries I’ve lived in (US, UK and Japan). I’ve consulted him for more than a decade and in that time he has always provided clear diagnoses and effective treatments including for acute issues, such as chest pain, dizziness and kidney stones. However, he doesn’t just treat the immediate issue but also considers the full picture of health. He takes time to discuss how symptoms might be affected by daily habits, and offers valuable advice about diet, exercise and stress management. Thanks to his guidance, I’ve made lifestyle changes that continue to benefit my health every day. I would confidently recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor who combines first-class medical expertise with compassionate care.
Written from the point of view of a tourist with an urgency, not residing in Japan, not insured in Japan:Be prepared for some waiting time as a walk-in patient, which the receptionist gave me a heads-up about. I wasn't at all in the mood to go elsewhere and glad that I didn't. The staff were all really friendly and competent, and there was no language barrier at all for a non-Japanese speaker. The doctor took a lot of time explaining his choice of treatment and gave valuable advice, which not only immediately put me at ease but also back on my feet within less than two days. I don't know how the price compares to other services in Japan/Fukuoka, but the consultation was a flat fee that was reported upfront (to be paid cash) and which seemed very reasonable to me. You'll get a receipt that you can use to get reimbursed for by your foreign health insurance, if that applies to you. Thank you very much Dr Schlemper & team

Dr. Schlemper is thorough, up to date on the research and explains treatment options and the reasons for tests and interventions. I'm from Canada and never have received this quality of care in my own country.Dr. Schlemper's style of communication is clear and to the point, which might feel rude to some, but for myself, I appreciate to have a medical professional that communicates directly and answers all my questions. He even sometimes pulls medical papers or charts to show me the evidence he's basing his decisions/recommendations on!
I went to International Clinic for the first time after being introduced by an acquaintance. Three days before I had been to another hospital for stomachache and the Japanese doctor had prescribed me medicines for 3 days, but it did not help. I was worried about my stomachache, so I asked a friend of mine which hospital would be good to go to for another check-up and luckily I met Dr. Ronald Schlemper. The doctor examined me very carefully, took a lot of time to understand where my illness originated from and gave me an effective treatment. I had less pain and was much better the next day and had completely recovered the day after that. The doctor had explained everything in an easy-to-understand way, my pain and anxiety turned into a wonderful feeling of relief!
I am so happy to have found a good hospital that I hope to continue using for a long time!

My partner and I visited this clinic whilst in Fukuoka, we were happy and satisfied with our experience here. My partner was very unwell with a cough, we had to wait outside to be seen by Dr. Schlemper which was good in keeping other people safe from his illness. The nurses and Dr. Schlemper were extremely helpful in seeing us without an appointment, we walked in and were seen quickly and given a script to pick up medication at the pharmacy next door. We are travelling from Australia so it was very helpful to be able to see a doctor that spoke English, would highly recommend this clinic and all of the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly.
